iD Barrio SP.01 is a project that acts as an observatory of territory and a laboratory for the development of creative processes related to certain ultra-local social activities in some microcontexts of contemporary urban concentrations. The project aims at stimulating collective creativity and cultural exchange as a tool for the development and transformation of territory through creative processes where artistic practices and local social space converge. Analyzing to understand the dynamics of space, visualizing to interpret various mechanisms operating in these places, planning to draw new productive dynamics, collaborating to enhance and multiply creative capacities.
The project proposes the creation of a network based on a three-phase structure: International seminar, Collective workshop and a Travelling exhibition.

iD#5 Seized Cities. Exhibition.
La Capella, Barcelona 15 July - 12 September

Idensitat is an art project developed in various cities with the intention of providing the tools to coordinate creative projects that influence the public sphere in relation to the region. Establishing a production and research network, this platform acts within the field of artistic creation in order to experiment with new forms of involvement and interaction in different social settings.

This exhibition brings together several projects that were part of the fifth edition of Idensitat. They were developed in Calaf, Manresa, Mataró, Sondika, El Priorat and Barcelona. The interventions that took place in each of these cities included creative activities of varying size and scale; each with their own unique targets but also aimed at influencing aspects that deal with collective actions that take place locally. On the whole, they represent artistic experiences that seek specific negotiation elements within local contexts, striving for a mutual exchange of knowledge while remaining open to the creative potential of every participant.

A series of activities were carried out parallel to these actions, including workshops, public interventions (in both rural and urban spaces), energising dynamics, the creation of forums to debate local and guest proposals for action; past experience was discussed and we managed to expose some of the conflict latent in the public sphere. In this exhibition, this collection of projects created in different places and at different times aspires to a way of relating to one another and to turn this space-time into processes, a common ground. More and more, Idensitat is becoming a keystone in the network of project relations, local areas and people that consider creative dynamics a way to intervene and affect social spaces. For this reason, “iD#5: Ciutats Intervingudes” presents artists and collective projects as well as mediating projects and production spaces as a whole. They make up a network that allows for the coexistence of a variety of creative processes with a similar transformative drive, influencing towns, neighbourhoods and cities little by little, while creating pressure on the future of cultural politics.

Openning Programme of Inland - Campo Adentro: about art, agriculture and the countryside

*Discussion: Culture from and within the remaining 80% : 21st July
*Presentation of the event and Inland-Campo Adentro press conference : 6th july
*Plataforma Rural Art and Countryside Committee meeting : 21st June

The following public events have been organised to celebrate the launch of the Inland - Campo Adentro project. These events are driven by a coordinated cultural and political effort that for the first time in Spain serves as the basis for social debate about the countryside and the problems it is currently facing. The aim is to establish a new relationship between the countryside and the city, bringing together artists, rural organisations (Plataforma Rural), government representatives (Ministry of Culture, Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs and local and regional governments), art centres ( Museo Reina Sofía,CDAN amongst others), academics (from five Spanish universities) and other European cultural organisations. A different event reflecting each season will take place over the next three years and the presentation of the project this summer will introduce the International Inland-Campo Adentro Conference, which is due to take place this autumn in October 2010. This reencounter of city and countryside and keeping a rural world alive can be a key factor for a transition towards sustainability as well as success factor for economic and cultural regeneration.

Exhibition opens to the 10th of July

with the collaboration of Màster d'Estudis Avançats d'Història de l'Art de l'UB

Can Xalant presents from 29th of May to 10th July 2010 Parking 01. Museus Portàtils, a research and documentation project organized by the class of the Màster en Estudis Avançats en Història de l'Art, under the supervision of Martí Peran, professor and curator.

Parking 01. Museus Portàtils is part of the project Ceci n’est pas une voiture, proposed, as an exercise of documentation and reflection on the construction of mobile artifacts as elements of a wider conception of a museum or, as an alternative to it. WIth this objective the project has 3 phases: Parking 01. Museus Portàtils (documentation space); Parking 02 (Exhibition); Parking 03 (Seminar and publication). The project Ceci n'est pas une voiture is a collaboration among Can Xalant, Idensitat i ACVic. Centre d'Arts Contemporànies .

Parking 01. Museus Portàtils intends to investigate,  reflect and  rethink the practice of the exhibition and to bring new knowledge about the institutions, the system and the strategies of socialisation of the arts. Therefore, it has as a goal to put together different autonomous and portable artifacts, which are created to directly intervene in  urban space or to become an infrastructure to carry out activities, promoting alternative institutions, promoting open and collective creative processes .

Landscape ?

Nico Baumgarten, Clara Boj & Diego Díaz, Alfonso Borragán & Lluís Sabadell i Artiga

From 7th May to 29th August 2010. (Opening 6th May 19.30h at Bòlit-LaRambla).

What is, in the final analysis, the landscape? Does it exist by itself in nature, or does it seem to be a construct of the viewer? Does it reflect only a vision or can it correlate with experience and  emotion?

Landscape? is presented as a kick-start to  these and other questions, within proposals rooted in territory, that through their learning experiences try to clarify whether  the landscape is evoked, revealed or constructed, and if the destruction of the landscape is the common element. It could be precisely that this ambivalence generates every landscape.

Through experience of, and prospecting for,  spatial and phenomenological categories that place the landscape in a natural, urban and emotional gradient, in Landscape? aspects like  progress, identity or the public realm are approached, but also from their affirmation and their negation , with a discourse exploring antagonistic possibilities.

Since construction and destruction are two faces of the same coin, to what extend do they impact upon and relate to social, economic and political transformations, within the countryside and vice-versa? How much must one belong to a territory to participate in the creation or destruction of its landscape?
