Photography: Portal, 2021. Roger Coll

Roger Coll belongs to this new generation of artists who rethink ceramics without  restraint, and who fall outside the traditional categories.

Coll represents an invigorating and contemporary approach to ceramic sculpture. Internationally recognised and exhibited, his works speak with a fluency that could be associated with both vector graphics and historical art research on the organic line. Coll’s work operates through an inherent and reactive topology; his pieces move through space with the same ease and intuition that the viewer moves them. While maintaining and asserting a distinctive and complex character, these pieces can find context without any difficulty within the space they occupy.

The Future Perfect

Roger Coll
(1979) studied Technical Architecture at Universitat ETSA la Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull in Barcelona, Sculpture at the EASD Llotja Barcelona, and Ceramics at the Escola Forma Barcelona, EASD Pau Gargallo and the Escola d’Art de Vic. Originally from Badalona, he now lives and works in Vic.

He began his career in 2009 with a stay in Helsinki, working as an assistant to the artist Jiri Geller. Since 2010, his pieces have been displayed in individual and group exhibitions in New York, London, Tokyo, Antwerp and Milan, among other locations. In addition, his work was featured in the book "New Wave Clay: Ceramic Design, Art and Architecture."
