This exhibition brings together pieces by three artists who consider the social and political situation, and the “ghosts” present in our current society, posing questions such as, “Who are the ghosts nowadays? Who can pass through walls, and borders? Who is invisible?”

Security Area is an interactive installation by Xavi Bové in which visitors may consult a global map which groups together the conflicts and protests which have been mentioned in communications media during the past year.

For Miquel Garcia, one of the reasons for art is to generate a process of critical thinking which interrogates present-day methods of production and representation. Orators presents a selection of speeches from various dictators and heads of state, reproduced with more or less distortion according to the length of time since the speeches were made, encouraging reflection upon the traces which this ideological and historic inheritance leaves behind.

Periphery by Andrea Gómez speaks of identity and its loss, of margins and frontiers, and of how the individual becomes modified by the necessity of passing across borders, all by drawing parallels between reality and the virtual world.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY – What's the news today?

With press cuttings taken from the day of the visit, groups will put together a world map showing the social, economic and political conflicts which appear in out communications media. This activity will open up a debate regarding what is media-worthy and why, what filters media use in their reporting, and how our vision of the world is formed.
