Hybridizations and Contexts is a collaborative project between art centres and art schools specialising in art and design, which is intended to bring together a network of projects; entities which are, at the same time, worlds apart in their everyday activities, and yet similar in such ends as the promotion of relationships between art, education, contexts and connectedness to society.

On Thursday 15th May, a day of exchange among all projects which foster collboration will take place at Escola d’Art in Vic.

About Hybridisations and Contexts. Collaborative project between art centres and art schools



The title refers to how and why the project arose. While the concept of hybridisation refers to inter- and cross-disciplinary issues, the idea of context positions us towards a particular place and a specific temporal situation.



This first edition features:
 
•    ACVic Centre d’Arts Contemporànies-Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de Vic.  Project: Digues la teva! (Say your piece!) Workshop on audiovisual expression
       
•    ACVic Centre d’Arts Contemporànies-Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de Vic i  Departament de Cultura i Ciutadania de l’Ajuntament de Vic.  Project: L’Altra Ciutat (The Other City)
   
•    M|A|C Mataró-Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny Pau Gargallo.  Project: Skate Invaders: skatepark built and managed by young people and skate workshop
  
•   Bòlit, Centre d’Art Contemporani-Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny d’Olot i Conexiones improbables (Bilbao).   Project: Connexió Girona: Creative capsules
      
•   ADESK, Institut Independent de Crítica i Art Contemporani-EINA, Centre Universitari de Disseny i Art de Barcelona.   Project: Ni producció, ni exposició: l’espai del procés creatiu (Neither production, nor exhibition:the space of the creative process)
    
•   Fundació Antoni Tàpies-Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny Deià.  Project: Institució cultural: interacció, creació, intervenció (Cultural institution: interaction, creation, intervention)
             
•   Centre d’Art la Panera-Escola d’Art Municipal Leandre Cristòfol.  Project: Art i gènere, o com lluitar contra els estereotips (Art and Gender, or, how to fight stereotypes), and project: Vegaviana-Gimenells: memòria colonitzada (Vegaviana-Gimenells: colonised memory)
     
•   Centre d’Art la Panera-EASD Ondara.  Project: Lletraferits (Bookworms)
    
•   FABRA i COATS-Escola LLOTJA, Sala d’Art Jove.  Project: Col·lectivaccions (Collectivactions)

OBJECTIVES

•   Establishing a network of collaborations between different areas of production and distribution working in the field of contemporary arts, along with schools specialising in art and design.

•   Strengthening relationships between production areas, research and distribution, and education and research spaces.

•   Promoting transversal projects, displaying and distributing work carried out within a common structural axis, sharing methodologies and evaluation strategies.

•   Providing visibility to projects and research made by art schools or arts centres, in relationship with their social context.

•   Promoting and strengthening the importance of the presence of the arts in society, and emphasize the social function of art and the education.

•   Building a relationship between work process and visibility, between production and public communication, between an introspective dynamic in research and an extravagant dynamic in distribution..
