SQUARE ROOT
Espai Col·lectiu La Clota
Activity related to the program VicTROC
31.07.2020. From 7 p.m to 12 p.m
in the Parc Jaume Portell, in front of ACVIC. Centre d’Arts Contemporànies
With the participation of La Ludwig Band, Carles Bertran, Jaume Coll, Barba Corsini, Remei Reviu, Grup de Defensa del Ter, Ona Fusté and Gèls, Cèlia Tort and Laura Marsal.
Square root will be a collage of artistic and social actions included in one single show, and guided by a random process. In other words, we will bring together a series of projects from different disciplines that will occupy the space in which the action will take place, and through a random bingo draw, and with poet Oriol Sauleda setting the rhythm as presenter, participants will keep the show rolling along without pre-established schemes. Music, poetry, dance, consciousness-raising and humour, all veiled by surprise, and actively encouraging public participation in whatever will be taking place between the spotlights and the microphones.
The activity will take place in Jaume Portell Park, in front of ACVIC. There will be two public shows, with a total of eight different activities. The first will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the second from 10 p.m. to 12 p.m. In between shows, there will be a break for dinner, and La Clota will supply food and drink. We are grateful for the participation of El Circell, the organic farming project, who will give away four hampers of their fresh vegetables as prizes for participants in the bingo draw.
Square root on Friday 31 July will be the second presentation to be held, the first having taken place at the Casino de Vic in February 2020.
La Clota is a group that arose about four years ago from the project to recover and reclaim a particular site in Les Adoberies, Vic’s old Tanneries district. Since then, we have organised several soirées in the area in question, while also opening the group up to collaborations with other regional cultural projects. Another branch of this project is the radio channel, which we started up just one year ago, with the intention of giving groups with aims similar to ours a means of expressing their message.
